Popular novels Run Away and Missing You will soon join the equally popular stable of Harlan Coben Netflix shows, according to a Deadline report on Monday (22 January).
This follows the huge success of Fool Me Once series on Netflix, including in South Africa where it is currently trending at number two among TV shows. Starring Michelle Keegan, the thriller follows Maya Stern as she tries to come to terms with her husband’s murder.
Two new Harlan Coben Netflix shows
Netflix has now committed to adapt Run Away and Missing You as limited series in the near future. Production for the latter will reportedly start as early as the northern hemisphere’s Spring this year.
Quay Street Productions, which produced Fool Me Once, will similarly produce both of the new adaptations. Coben will be the executive producer, with Victoria Asare-Archer (for Missing You) and Danny Brocklehurst (for Run Away) as writers.
In the novel Missing You, NYPD detective Kat Donovan chances upon her ex-fiancé’s profile on a dating website, sparking an investigation into the mystery of her father’s murder years back. Run Away is about Simon and his run-away daughter Paige, who leads him into a perilous underworld.
The Fool Me Once adaptation has raked in a staggering 61 million views in its first two weeks, scooping the number one spot among Netflix’s top 10 English language TV shows worldwide. It has proved particularly popular in the UK, where 6.3 million viewers watched the first episode.
The two new adaptations will bring the number of Coben’s novels adapted to Netflix shows to 10. The author has sold a massive 80 million copies of his novels globally.
