The newly launched Vodacom PowerFlex promotion offers subscribers unlimited calls, unlimited SMSs and 17GB or 22GB data bundles from R449 per month.
The offer is available exclusively online on a month-to-month basis, and there are no contracts or credit checks. However, customers would need a credit card during the signup process.
“Each PowerFlex offer enables you to call or SMS whoever you want, whenever you want to, without worrying about your minutes or SMS balances,” the South African mobile operator said.
How Vodacom PowerFlex works
The two Vodacom PowerFlex price plans became available on 20 November 2023 and will run until 31 March 2024. They include:
- 17GB anytime data with unlimited any network minutes and unlimited SMSs for R449 per month.
- 22GB anytime data with unlimited any network minutes and unlimited SMSs for R579 per month.
The voice, SMS and data allocations for both plans are valid for 60 days. Should you deplete your data, you can purchase more via the various Vodacom channels at standard rates. Unlimited calls apply to all local networks, with prevailing rates applying to international and premium-rated calls.
How to sign up
To sign up, visit the PowerFlex page on your browser, choose your plan and add a device (optional). You will then need to enter your delivery details, including names, contact information, ID number and address. The last step is to make a payment online for the first month (if you add a device, its price would be included in the initial payment).
RAM Couriers will then contact you to deliver the SIM card. “Please make sure you have your original identification document and proof of address handy to validate with the courier before they hand over your PowerFlex SIM card,” Vodacom said.
Your activation date, which includes both your SIM card activation and successful RICA verification, will be your billing or anniversary date, according to the promotion’s terms and conditions. Automatic deductions will be made from your credit card on your billing date for each month.
“Should the automatic deduction fail for any reason, the customer will be notified to make a payment via SMS. Note that the monthly allocation will not be allocated until such time a successful payment is received,” the mobile operator said. If you fail to make a payment, you will still remain active on the network by recharging with airtime and buying data bundles at standard/out of bundle rates.
Subscribers have the option to upsize, downsize or cancel their plan via My Vodacom App at any time, with no penalty fees. However, the change will only take effect on your upcoming anniversary date.
“Since the voice and SMS allocations as part of the PowerFlex offer are unlimited in nature, they are not applicable for rollover and cannot be transferred to another Vodacom network customer,” Vodacom explained.
“The data allocations as part of the PowerFlex offer are eligible for transfer. Customers may transfer data to other eligible Vodacom prepaid customers. The data allocations as part of the PowerFlex offer are eligible for rollover. Therefore, there is an additional 30-day rollover validity period applicable on data allocation only.”
