The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) on Tuesday (30 March) announced SASSA payment dates for April 2021 for grant recipients.
SASSA staggers the dates to avoid long queues at its offices, SA Post Office (SAPO) branches or ATMs, especially in light of COVID-19 social distancing protocols.
SASSA payment dates for April 2021
SASSA said it will make April grant payments from the following dates:
- Older persons’ grants will be paid from 6 April 2021. This includes any grants linked to these accounts.
- Disability grants will be paid from 7 April 2021. This includes any grants linked to these accounts.
- All other grants will be paid from 8 April 2021.
“There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed,” SASSA advised recipients.
R350 SRD grant payment dates
The SA Post Office also announced on Tuesday that it will not pay the R350 social relief of distress (SRD) grants from 1 to 9 April 2021.
“The week is reserved for beneficiaries who receive old age grants, disability grants and child grants,” it explained.
R350 SRD grant payment dates for April
SAPO revealed the payment dates R350 SRD grants for April as follows:
Date | Last 3 digits of ID number |
---|---|
12 April | 081 and 086 |
13 April | 082 and 087 |
14 April | 083 and 088 |
15 April | 084 and 089 |
16 April | 080 and 085 |
19 April | 081 and 086 |
20 April | 082 and 087 |
21 April | 083 and 088 |
22 April | 084 and 089 |
23 April | 080 and 085 |
26 April | 081 and 086 |
27 April | No payments |
28 April | 082 and 087 |
29 April | 083 and 088 |
30 April | 084 and 089 |
The staggered dates are based on a new system SAPO announced earlier this year aimed at reducing waiting time for beneficiaries who collect their SRD grants via the Post Office.
“This schedule is displayed at Post Office branches and is on the Post Office website,” it said.
The Post Office has also introduced separate queues at its branches – one for R350 SRD grant beneficiaries and one for other transactions.
SAPO has also deployed queue walkers at all branches to help beneficiaries get their grants on their allocated day based on the last three digits of their ID numbers.
It urged beneficiaries to send any queries they may have to SASSA by calling 0800 60 10 11 from 08h00 to 16h00, Monday to Friday or visiting the SASSA website on www.sassa.gov.za.
