Here’s some awesome news for pet lovers – the Shoprite Group has launched Petshop Science Online where you can order pet-related products and have them delivered to your home.
The pet economy in South Africa has grown exponentially in recent years, with Petshop Science opening 22 new physical stores in one year, Shoprite said in a statement on Wednesday (27 July).

“We’ve been working hard to deliver superior service, range and value to local pet parents. With the launch of Petshop Science Online, we’re adding another way for South Africans to access all of this – but without leaving their homes,” Shoprite Group’s Head of eCommerce Mark Cotton said.
Customers will have more than 2,000 pet-related products to choose from, including food, treats, and toys. The available premium brands include Hills, Montego, Dog’s Life, Eukanuba, Ultra Dog, Royal Canin, Rogz and Nandoe.
“Petshop Science customers can now also create online profiles for their pets, which include their pet’s name, birth date, type and breed,” the group said.
“Customers can access these profiles in stores, and it enables PetShop Science to serve loyal shoppers with special offers tailored to their pets’ needs.”
Launch discounts
Shoprite said it is offering discounts to celebrate the launch of the online store. Over 250 items will be on special, including the following:
- 25% Off Hills Pet Nutrition Dry Food.
- 50% Off Olympic Professional Dog Food.
- 20% Off Nexgard & Frontline Tick & Flea Treatments.
- Buy 2 & Get 1 Free on Montego 500g Chewies Treats.
Order above R450 will get free delivery. A R75 delivery fee will apply to all other orders. “Orders placed by 16h00 within a 60km radius from Cape Town CBD and Sandton will qualify for next-day delivery,” the retailer said.
Shoprite continues expanding its pet-related offerings following the launch of its pet insurance in 2020 which now starts at R69 per month.
