Here are useful Capitec cash send details – including withdrawal, reversal

In recent months, Capitec cash send has become increasingly useful for South Africans – and knowing its details, including withdrawal and how to reverse, is therefore important.

Fortunately, the bank has provided ample information on this service which we outline below.

How to do cash send on Capitec

There are two main ways to do a Capitec cash send: via the app or via USSD.

Sending cash via the app

  1. Open the app and your cellphone and tap “Transact.”
  2. Tap “Send cash” and enter your remote PIN.
  3. Tap the button to send cash.
  4. Choose “From” account.
  5. Enter the amount you wish to send.
  6. Create a 4-digit secret code, which the recipient will use to collect the cash, and tap “Next.”
  7. Read the terms and conditions, tick the boxes and tap “Accept.”
  8. Tap “Yes” to confirm the transaction.
  9. You’ll receive an SMS with the reference number, which you need to send to the recipient.
  10. Send the secret code to the recipient in a separate message.

Sending cash via USSD

  1. Dial *120*3279# on your cellphone and reply 9.
  2. Accept the terms and conditions and Reply 1.
  3. Choose “From” account.
  4. Enter the amount you wish to send.
  5. Create a 4-digit secret code which the recipient will use to collect the cash.
  6. Enter your Mobile Banking PIN.

If you do not have the Capitec Bank app, you can download it from the bank’s website here. To use the USSD option, you first need to be registered for mobile banking.

Remember to send both the reference number and secret code to the recipient in separate SMS messages. You can send a maximum of R1,000 per transaction using the USSD option and R3,000 per transaction using the app.

With USSD, the daily limit is R1,000 and for the app, the daily limit is R3,000. For both options, the maximum amount you can send per month is R24,999.

According to Capitec Bank, sending cash between R40 – R1,000 will cost R7.50 for both the app and USSD. Sending cash between R1,010 – R3,000 using the app will cost R15.

Capitec cash send withdrawal

Regarding where to get the funds, the recipient can make a Capitec cash send withdrawal at any Capitec ATM, Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Game, Makro, Pick n Pay or Builders store.

They will need a reference number and the 4-digit secret code. The teller at Capitec’s partner stores will ask the recipient these details as well as their name, surname and cellphone number.

Once all these details are provided and validated, the cash will be paid to the recipient immediately. There are no withdrawal fees for the recipient.

How to reverse Capitec cash send

To reverse Capitec cash send, you will have to call the bank’s contact number on 0860 10 20 43 for assistance. According to the bank, a recall fee will apply and a successful recall cannot be guaranteed.

Does Capitec cash send expire?

According to Capitec Bank, cash send will expire after 30 days if the recipient does not collect the funds. The money will then be returned to the sender’s account.
