If you receive the R350 social relief of distress (SRD) grant in South Africa, you can now know when the payment dates will be for the remainder of the 2023/2024 financial year.
This after the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) announced the pay days for each month via a post on Facebook on Friday (25 August).
R350 SRD payment dates for 2023/2024
The SRD payment dates for the remainder of the 2023/2024 financial year are as follows:
Month | Start date | End date |
---|---|---|
August 2023 | 25/08/2023 | 31/08/2023 |
September 2023 | 22/09/2023 | 29/09/2023 |
October 2023 | 25/10/2023 | 31/10/2023 |
November 2023 | 24/11/2023 | 30/11/2023 |
December 2023 | 18/12/2023 | 22/12/2023 |
January 2024 | 25/01/2024 | 31/01/2024 |
February 2024 | 23/02/2024 | 29/02/2024 |
March 2024 | 25/03/2024 | 29/03/2024 |
SASSA advised R350 grant recipients to check their status on the SRD website during the pay week for the exact date when their payments will reflect in their bank accounts.
It added that funds will take approximately two to three working days to reflect in the accounts. Accordingly, the exact pay dates will be slightly later than those indicated on the website.
SASSA’s announcement gives recipients a greater degree of certainty regarding when they’re likely to receive their grant amounts every month.
In case your status indicates “pending,” it means that verification of your application for that particular month is still pending, according to the Agency. You therefore need to check later for an update.
It still remains unclear whether or not the government will extend the grant beyond March 2024. In July, Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu told Parliament that her Department is seeking to petition Cabinet to extend it for a further two years.
This would give the government enough time to formulate and pass legislative amendments for a permanent basic income grant, the Minister explained.
