The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the August 2023 payment dates for the R350 social relief of distress (SRD) grants.
The announcement provides certainty to those who have obtained approvals for this month on when they can expect to receive funds in their bank accounts.
R350 SRD payment dates for August 2023
In a Facebook post on Wednesday (23 August), SASSA said it will start processing R350 SRD grant payments from 25-31 August 2023.
“During that week, clients are encouraged to view their status on the SRD website for the exact date that payment will reflect into their bank accounts. Funds will take about 2-3 working days to reflect in the client’s account after payment has been processed,” the Agency said.
This means that the exact pay day (when you receive the funds in your account) is likely to be slightly later than the payment date indicated on the SRD website.
“If you are approved with no pay date, it means payment has not been processed as yet; however, payment will be processed soon. If you are pending, it means verification of your application for that particular month is still pending. Please check back later for an update,” SASSA added in its Facebook replies to enquiries.
Some applicants said they have been approved for several months but do not have pay dates for those months. In response, SASSA said, “If the applicant qualifies in that month of the application, he/she will be paid for that month and for the current month if they still meet the application criteria. The payment may not necessarily be a double payment/lump sum or on the same day. It can be split over days or weeks.”
