This week, DPSA Circular 20 of 2023 is a big one. It has around 312 pages of the latest job vacancies in South Africa’s public service as of Friday, 9 June.
This signals an acceleration in the government’s hiring activity – which is good news for millions of job seekers across the length and breadth of the country.
DPSA Circular 20 of 2023 vacancies
For the latest vacancies across national and provincial government spheres as of 9 June, view or download DPSA Circular 20 of 2023 here. It’s a PDF document, which means it is easier to download and keep it on your device for ongoing reference.
As usual, the DPSA has also published shorter documents from the circular for each department, institution or province that has posted job advertisements. To view them, simply visit the DPSA’s Circular 20 newsroom webpage.
The Department reminded applicants to use the new Z83 form which became effective from 1 January 2021. Be sure to attach your full and detailed curriculum vitae (CV) to the form. Your CV gives you an opportunity to add details that you may not be able to provide fully on the Z83 form because of limited space.
The DPSA also directed other government departments to bring the circular to the attention of their employees. This would give such employees a chance to discover and apply for higher-ranking jobs as part of their career progression in the public service.
“It must be ensured that employees declared in excess are informed of the advertised vacancies. Potential candidates from the excess group must be assisted in applying timeously for vacancies and attending where applicable, interviews,” the DPSA told departments.
“Candidates must be assessed and selected in accordance with the relevant measures that apply to employment in the public service.”
Finally, if you applied for a position advertised in a previous circular, be sure to check if the relevant department or province has made amendments to the advertisement. Sometimes, it may be necessary to re-apply for that position. Good luck to all applicants!
