The South African Social Security Agency has finally released the SASSA payment dates for April 2023 for all normal grants, including old age pension, disability and children’s grants.
Grant recipients can now plan their finances better for the new month. For instance, they can inform their creditors when they will settle any debts they may have.
SASSA payment dates for April 2023
The Agency published a poster on Twitter on Friday (24 March) showing the SASSA payment dates for April 2023 as follows:
- 4 April – Old Age Pension Grant.
- 5 April – Disability Grants.
- 6 April – Children’s Grants and other grants, including foster care, war veterans, care dependency and grant-in-aid.
The grant payments will start on a Tuesday, which means that there is no weekend gap that often delays payments to some beneficiaries.
April is significant because it is the month that the first grant increases announced in the budget in February will kick in. In case you missed it, here are the new grant amounts as from April 2023:
- Old age below 75: R2,080
- Old age above 75: R2,100
- War veterans: R2,100
- Disability: R2,080
- Foster care: R1,120
- Care dependency: R2,080
- Child support: R500
- Grant-in-air: R500
- CSG top-up: R250
The second grant increases for this year will kick in from 1 October 2023 when all beneficiaries will get an extra R10. The CSG top-up will however remain unchanged.
As usual, SASSA urged beneficiaries not to rush to withdraw their grants on the first day they become available.
“Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed,” the Agency added.
