From 6 March 2023, Openview subscribers in South Africa can access a newly launched pay TV option called Ultraview, with the first bouquet costing R74.99 per month.
Currently, Openview viewers have access to free-to-air channels as long as they have a decoder and satellite dish. With the new service, they can add a paid option for premium content.
What is Ultraview on Openview?
Ultraview is an added pay TV option on Openview that enables viewers to watch additional bouquets of premium content for a monthly subscription. Viewers retain access to the free content on their decoder.
“The revolutionary new service is giving audiences viewing power by giving them the choice of free or paid content, at their discretion,” Openview explained in a press release issued this week.
“Unlike other services, Ultraview allows viewers to find exclusive niche content, conveniently in one place, and pick stand-alone bouquets.”
Ultraview TV Openview channels
Openview said the first Ultraview TV bouquet called Pride will launch on 6 March 2023 with two channels – OUTtv and Fuse. This bouquet is priced at R74.99 per month. More bouquets, including Spice, will be added soon with more channels.
The OUTtv channel features LGBTQI series, reality shows, documentaries, telenovelas, gay romcoms, films and OUT originals. These include Being Bebe, Call Me Mother, Gogo For the Gold, and Hot Haus.
The Fuse channel has an even greater focus on the youth with shows such as Big Freedia. Fuse “shares the stories that empower diverse young adults” and is “stacked with movies, documentaries, competition shows and compelling Fuse original series,” Openview said.
First-time users can have access to the Pride bouquet with a three-day free trial, after which the monthly subscription applies. Subscribers can cancel an Ultraview subscription at any time.

This is NOT optional. My Grandparent’s OpenView box goes to a UltraView Activation screen and it doesn’t look like there is anyway to get around it to get back the free content. All they really cared about was the news. OpenView spent a lot of money to get every publication to spew the same marketing crap so you get nothing but their marketing when you try and Google for a way to get back to the free content. It’s all straight up lies and this site, along with many others, spread it around to the detriment of the public. And then people wonder why news sites aren’t trusted…
