R350 grant beneficiaries who have pay dates are now being sent the SASSA SRD cash send SMS, the South African Social Security Agency revealed on Tuesday (21 February).
This follows long delays that many SRD grant beneficiaries who chose the cash send payment method have experienced in recent months.

“Cash send payments are currently being processed. Cash send clients who have pay dates are requested to collect funds as soon as they have received an SMS with a voucher number from their chosen bank,” SASSA announced in a post on Twitter and Facebook.
This effectively means that the Agency is currently sending the much-awaited SASSA SRD cash send SMS to the relevant R350 grant recipients. It is therefore important to regularly check your cellphone for the SMS.
Earlier this month, SASSA advised applicants who have been approved but have no payment dates to upload their bank account details if they initially chose the cash send or Postbank payment methods.
This would fast-track the payments, the Agency said. The response was mixed, with some applicants confirming that they had received payments after uploading their banking details. However, others said they had long uploaded their details but had not received their payments.
It now appears that SASSA was working to process the payments this week. Many applicants will be hoping that they would finally receive their funds during this latest process.
If you need to check whether you have a pay date or not, visit SASSA’s SRD website and scroll the page until you see “Application status.” Click on the yellow tab that says, “Click here to check online” and follow the prompts.
You will then be able to see the status of your R350 grant application. To find out what your status means and what you need to do, read this article.
