As the month of February winds down, old age pension and other beneficiaries of normal grants in South Africa want to know the SASSA grant payment dates for March 2023.
Knowing these dates in advance helps them plan for the month ahead, especially in situations where they need to pay their credit providers or settle other financial obligations.
SASSA grant payment dates for March 2023
According to the annual schedule uploaded by the South African Social Security Agency on its website, the SASSA grant payment dates for March 2023 are as follows:
- 2 March – Old Age Pension Grant.
- 3 March – Disability Grants.
- 6 March – Children’s Grants and other grants, such as foster care.
Just like in the previous month, the payment dates for old age pension and disability grants will be on a Thursday and Friday respectively. Consequently, those who receive other grants will have to wait through the weekend until Monday, 6 March to finally access their payments.
Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa has indicated that the government will increase existing social grants “to cushion the poor against rising inflation.”
“Work is underway to develop a mechanism for targeted basic income support for the most vulnerable, within our fiscal constraints,” the President added in his State of the Nation Address earlier this month.
“This will build on the innovation we have introduced through the SRD Grant, including linking the data that we have across government to make sure we reach all those who are in need.”
The Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana, is expected to outline these decisions in further details when he presents South Africa’s 2023 annual budget in Parliament this week.
