It’s that time of the year again – MultiChoice South Africa has announced increases for DStv prices 2023 for Premium, Family and other packages except EasyView.
In a statement on Tuesday (14 February), MultiChoice SA said the price increases are “far lower than the projected CPI [Consumer Price Index] for 2023.”
“The pressure that consumers are facing due to remnants of the pandemic, as well as the continued rolling blackouts nationwide, has not been lost on us,” the group added.
“These nominal adjustments help DStv to ensure that South Africans continue to enjoy the best value and unrivalled access to entertainment, anywhere, anytime, and at the most affordable price.”
DStv prices 2023 in South Africa
The increases for DStv prices 2023 in South Africa range from 3.2% to 7.5%, with DStv EasyView the only package without an increase. Prices for DStv’s streaming-only packages remain unchanged.
The increases take effect as from 1 April 2023. The Access fee (for DStv Catch Up and PVR) has increased by 4.5% from R110 to R115. Prices for ADD Movies (R79) and Box Office (40) remain the same. See details for each package below.
DStv Premium price in 2023
This year, the DStv Premium price is R879 per month, up from R839 last year. This means subscribers will pay an additional R40 per month for this package, an increase of 4.8%.
DStv Compact Plus price in 2023
The DStv Compact Plus price has also gone up by R30 to R579 per month, up from R549 per month. This represents a 5.5% increase.
DStv Compact price in 2023
This year, the DStv Compact price is R449 per month, an upward adjustment of 4.7% from the previous R429 per month. Subscribers will therefore pay an additional R20 every month for this package.
DStv Family price in 2023
In 2023, the monthly DStv Family price is R319, up R10 from the previous amount of R309 per month. This is a 3.2% increase.
DStv Access price for 2023
Subscribers will pay an extra R9 per month after the DStv Access price increased to R129 from the previous R120. This amounts to a 7.5% increase.
DStv EasyView price in 2023
As noted above, the DStv EasyView price remains unchanged in 2023 at R29 per month. This is the entry-level package.
