Happy new year! And it’s that time of the month when you need to know the upcoming SASSA payment dates for February 2023 for normal grants – especially if you receive the old age pension grant.
Having this information on time is particularly useful if you need to make arrangements with your creditors or loan providers. It brings certainty to your financial affairs for the upcoming month.
Fortunately, a payment schedule is readily available as provided by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA). This schedule shows payment dates until March 2023, so the Agency will soon publish a new one for the rest of the year until March 2024.
SASSA payment dates for February 2023
According to the schedule, the SASSA payment dates for February 2023 are as follows:
- 2 February – Old Age Pension Grant.
- 3 February – Disability Grants.
- 6 February – Children’s Grants and other grants, such as foster care.
The first two categories of grants fall on Thursday and Friday. Therefore, those who receive other grants will have to wait a bit longer through the weekend until Monday, 6 February to start collecting their funds.
If you use a SASSA gold card, rest assured that the card remains valid and you can still use it at Postbank, ATMs or retail stores that have the cashback functionality. You can also simply swipe it to make payments in stores like any other bank card.
This is according to a SASSA statement issued on Monday (16 January) which dismissed claims that the gold cards will expire in April 2023.
“Beneficiaries must not panic or succumb to the hijacking by scammers and circulating fake news that the card will expire in April 2023,” the Agency said.
