South Africa’s social grants recipients, including for old age pension, children’s and disability grants, need to know the SASSA payment dates for December 2022 on time.
This would enable them to make financial plans for the new month in advance, such as making arrangements with their credit providers or simply knowing when they would expect to pay their bills for the new month.
Luckily, getting this information is easy because the South African Social Security Agency maintains a schedule on its website indicating dates for each month until next year.
SASSA payment dates for December 2022
According to the official grants schedule for 2022/2023, the SASSA payment dates for December 2022 are as follows:
- 1 December – Old Age Pension Grant.
- 2 December – Disability Grants.
- 5 December – Children’s Grants and other grants.
Despite SASSA’s announcement earlier this year that it will start paying grants on the second day of every month, December payments will start on the first, which will be on a Thursday.
The second day of December will be a Friday, which means that the third group of grant beneficiaries (children’s and other normal grants) will only start receiving their grants on Monday, 5 December.
Beneficiaries will also be hoping that there would be no payment delays. Earlier in November, Postbank suffered a system glitch that delayed grants paid to SASSA gold card holders through the Post Office.
The glitch was resolved within two days, but it had already inconvenienced millions of grant beneficiaries across the country because they could not access their grants on time.
Nevertheless, SASSA consistently advises beneficiaries not to rush to withdraw their grants on the first date they become available. This is because they funds remain in their accounts until they eventually collect them.
