A successful TFG account application could open up a world of affordable shopping in South Africa – as long as you keep up with your payments, of course.
An account with The Foschini Group (TFG) means you can have access to credit to shop across their brands, which are almost 30 in number.
“A TFG account is a revolving facility and will remain open as long as you make regular monthly payments. You can select payment plans of either 6 or 12 months, and your application is subject to an affordability assessment,” the group says on its website.
The 6-month plan is interest-free as long as your account is up to date. This means that your monthly payments must reflect by the 1st of the month, or you will be charged interest in the next month. The 12-month plan is interest-bearing but has lower instalments.

There are three ways to start a TFG account application – online, in-store or via WhatsApp.
How to open a TFG account online
To apply for a TFG Money Account online, visit their application page here and fill the online form. The requirements include basic information (names, ID number and cellphone number), employment and financial information, contacts, and references.
To validate your employment and financial information, you will be asked to upload proof of income (at least one month, such as a pay slip) along with your bank statements.
Before submitting your application, you will also need to accept the TFG account terms and conditions. Additionally, you must confirm that you:
- Do not have any other pending applications for credit outstanding.
- Have not applied for debt review and are not under administration, sequestration or curatorship.
- Consent to TFG contacting any credit bureau to obtain your credit profile history.
Once you submit your application, the group will send you a confirmation via SMS or email. If it is approved, they will send you further communication with details of how to get your TFG account card.
Opening a TFG account in-store
Simply visit any TFG store listed above to apply for an account. Be sure to bring along your ID or driver’s licence and your proof of income.
If your application is approved, you will receive an SMS asking you to visit the store again – this time to sign the final credit documents. Upon signing, the store assistant will give you a validated TFG account card. This means you can start shopping on credit immediately.
Apply for TFG account via WhatsApp
To begin your TFG account application via WhatsApp, simply send your ID number to their WhatsApp number 060 944 4884 and follow the prompts.

You can make your TFG account payments online, at an ATM or via debit order.
TFG online payment
One way of making your TFG online payment is through your online self-service on your profile. Follow the steps below:
- Visit the My TFG World website and click “My TFG Account Login & Register.”
- Log in to your profile (or register if you don’t have one).
- Click “Pay Now” to use Snapscan, Instant EFT or your debit/credit card to pay.
You can also pay using the normal EFT via your online banking or mobile app. The TFG bank account details (which you may also use for payments via ATM) are as follows:

Pay TFG account via debit order
To set up a debit order for TFG account payments, email your contact number to email@example.com or call 021 937 5870. An agent will then contact you to finalise your request.
