You don’t have to wait until 25 November to get the 2022 Black Friday deals from South African mobile operators Vodacom and rain.
The two operators have joined several other brands, such as Edgars, Woolworths and Hirsch’s, in unveiling early specials that run throughout the month.
Vodacom Black Friday deals 2022
The 2022 Vodacom Black Friday deals became available on Friday, 4 November. Shoppers can get massive discounts on devices such as smartphones, routers, TVs, laptops, and Xbox and PlayStation gaming consoles.
You can get smartphones on 24-month or 36-month contracts. SIM-only contracts are also available. Browse all of Vodacom’s special offers on their website.
“The 24-month contract is still a popular choice for people who have become used to the two-year phone upgrade cycle. The monthly cost is higher but it’s still possible to get the latest smartphone at an affordable price,” Vodacom says on its blog.
“The 36-month contract has essentially replaced 24-month payments as the go-to for people who want the latest smartphones without breaking the bank. However, you have to be okay with having the same phone for three years.”
Vodacom Black Friday data deals 2022
If you don’t wish to get a new device and only want data deals, you can opt for Vodacom’s SIM-only specials this Black Friday. These can be especially useful if you work from home or if you’re away from your home WiFi during travel or holidays, for example.

Furthermore, post-paid customers will get 75% off Vodacom’s 30GB recurring anytime data bundle, which will cost R175 every month when added to a new contract during the Black Friday period.
A massive Black Friday LTE data deal is the Home Internet LTE 1TB 36-month contract which comes with a Nokia Fastmile Gateway 1 router. Customers can get it at R349 per month, 59% below its normal price of R849. The 24-month option costs R399 per month.
For pre-paid customers, Vodacom plans to launch data deals in the coming weeks. VodaPay app users will also enjoy exclusive and time-specific deals during the Black Friday month, including the 1GB data bundle for just R1 available to new VodaPay users.
“Existing VodaPay customers will get 70% off selected mobile data bundles on the Just4You menu accessible via VodaPay,” the mobile operator said.
rain Black Friday deals 2022
rain Black Friday deals for 2022 have also been unveiled and are valid until 30 November. Specifically, customers can join rain’s 4G and 5G month-to-month plans for just R1. This means that they won’t pay the selected plan’s usual amount for the first month.
