It’s that time of the year when South Africa’s Grade 12 learners sit for their National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams – which is why it’s important to have the final 2022 matric exam timetable.
Fortunately, the Department of Basic Education (DBE) has made the timetable available in a downloadable PDF format.
Final 2022 matric exam timetable
You can download a PDF version of the final 2022 matric exam timetable from the DBE’s website here. This is the latest revised version available on the website and is dated 8 August 2022.
Grade 12 learners are sitting for the exams over a six-week period which started on Monday, 31 October 2022. The final exams are scheduled for Wednesday, 7 December 2022.
There were no major challenges on the first day, according to a statement issued by DBE on Monday (31 October). More than 794,000 candidates sat for their English Paper 1 across 6,800 centres across the country.
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga praised the matric class of 2022 “for their resilience and perseverance.”
“She said the class of 2022 was the worst affected in terms of the impact of COVID-19. She appealed to South Africans to continue to support the NSC candidates throughout the exam period which ends in the first week of December,” the Department added.
No irregularities
In a media briefing on the state of readiness over the weekend, Motshekga said the Department had gone to “great lengths” to make sure the examinations happen with no irregularities.
“The DBE has stepped up its security across all points in the question paper chain, based on a continuous review of all examination processes,” she added.
“In addition, all learners sitting for the NSC examinations and their parents have signed ‘Commitment Agreement’ to maintain honesty and not to participate in irregularities during the writing of examination. The Commitment Agreement binds the learners and parents to follow the rules relating to the examination.”
The DBE has also liaised with Eskom and other stakeholders to manage load shedding risks during this period.
Good luck to all the matric candidates across the country!
