In case you missed out on the first round of Sasol bursary 2023 applications earlier this year, there’s another chance to get funding for your studies.
This after the energy and chemicals company announced on Thursday (25 August) that applications for the Sasol Foundation Bursary Programme for the 2023 academic year are now open.
STEM and non-STEM bursaries
Sasol invited applications from students or learners who intend to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers. It is not offering postgraduate bursaries for the 2023 academic year.
It said non-STEM bursaries are reserved only for qualifying students from Sasol’s fence line communities (municipalities/districts around Sasol plants/operations), children of Sasol Khanyisa shareholders and children of Sasol employees.
“For more than 30 years, Sasol has been awarding comprehensive bursaries to top-performing maths and science learners,” the company said in a statement.
“Sasol is currently one of the larger bursary providers in South Africa with an extended bursary pool and annually awarding a significant number of bursaries, with 387 bursars currently in the programme.”
The bursaries cover tuition fees, accommodation and meals, textbooks, and pocket money. Beneficiaries will also receive allowances for study devices such as laptops and calculators as well as psychosocial support.
“These bursary opportunities are limited to South African citizens (by birth only), who are/will be pursuing degree studies at a public South African university or university of technology,” the company said.
How to apply for Sasol bursary 2023
To start your Sasol bursary 2023 application, you first need to register on the company’s bursaries website. Details required to register include your ID number, name and surname, cellphone number and email address.
Once you have registered, you will need to answer some questions about your field and level of study. You will then be able to fill an online application once you’re logged into your account.
“Should an individual provide incorrect information during the application process and such information comes to the attention of Sasol at any later date, the invitation for the further selection process, the bursary offer or the bursary will be withdrawn/terminated with immediate effect – due to possible intentional/unintentional fraudulent action,” Sasol cautioned applicants.
