Starting November 2022, there will be 10 weekly KLM Cape Town to Amsterdam flights, the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announced on Wednesday (25 May).
The airline is marking 30 years of flying between the two cities located in South Africa and The Netherlands.
Rising travel demand
“As travel demand between the cities continues to increase, the airline is proud to announce that it will be celebrating this milestone by adding three additional direct flights between the two cities per week from the beginning of November this year,” it said.
The announcement comes soon after KLM said in April that it will start operating daily flights from Cape Town from 11 July 2022. It is currently operating six flights per week.
“The schedule increase is a result of a greater demand for flights between Amsterdam and the coastal city, which remains popular with tourists,” it said at the time.
The flights will be operated by the airline’s flagship Boeing 787 aircraft. The Dreamliner offers 30 Business class seats and 272 in Economy class and remains one of the most popular aircrafts in the brand’s fleet.

Fully vaccinated travellers from South Africa can now enter The Netherlands without quarantine restrictions or test requirements. Furthermore, as of May 21, the use of face masks is no longer mandatory on board aircrafts to the Netherlands and at Dutch airports.
However, in line with regulations set by the South African government, face masks on flights to South Africa and in South African airports remain mandatory.
Travellers can confirm entry requirements before arriving in The Netherlands on the official government website. In addition, passengers on transit can check the entry and exit regulations of the country of final destination on the KLM travel advisory website.
Travel restrictions have eased in recent months as COVID-19 vaccination rates improve worldwide.
South Africa has also lifted its own restrictions after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the end of the national state of disaster in April.
