DStv has announced the new 2022 prices for various packages, including Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Family, Access and EasyView.
In a statement on Tuesday (8 February), the pay TV service said the price increases average 2.7% across its packages, adding that this is “significantly lower than the projected CPI for the year.”
DStv price increases for 2022
“The adjustments follow a period of increased value offerings from DStv in the form of local and international general entertainment and sports content, DStv Internet, and Rewards,” DStv added.
“From April 1 2022, Premium subscribers will pay 1.21% or just R10 more per month. There are nominal adjustments for Compact Plus (+1.86% or R10), Compact (+4.89% or R20), Family (+4.75% or R14) and DStv Access (+4.35% or R5). Pricing for Easyview, Showmax, Add Movies and BoxOffice will remain unchanged for 2022.”
MultiChoice South Africa CEO Nyiko Shiburi said the company considered the pressures on consumers caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to minimal price increases.
“These adjustments will help us to ensure that South Africans continue to enjoy the best value, and unrivalled access to entertainment, anywhere, anytime, and at the most affordable price,” Shiburi added.
DStv Premium price
The DStv Premium price in 2022 is R839 per month, up from R829 in 2021. Customers will get one month free if they pay an annual lumpsum of R9,229, which works out to R769 per month.
DStv Compact Plus price
The DStv Compact Plus price for 2022 is R549 per month, up from R539 in 2021. If you pay an annual lumpsum of R6,039, you will get one month free (works out to R503 per month.
DStv Compact price
The DStv Compact price for 2022 is R429 per month, up from R409 in 2021. You will get one month free if you pay an annual lumpsum of R4,719, which works out to R393 per month.
DStv Family
The 2022 DStv Family price is R309 per month, up from R295 in 2021. You will get one month free if you pay an annual lumpsum of R3,399, which is the equivalent of R283 per month.
DStv Access price
The 2022 DStv Access price is R120 per month, up from R115 in 2021. Customers will get one month free if they pay an annual lumpsum of R1,320, which translates to R110 per month.
DStv EasyView price
The DStv EasyView price remains unchanged at R29 per month. Paying a R319 annual lumpsum would earn you one month free – or the equivalent of R26.60 per month.
Remember, DStv Premium subscribers get Showmax for free, while DStv Compact, Compact Plus, Family and Access subscribers get Showmax at a 50% discount. The table below shows a summary of the adjustments.
