Like last year, entries for Idols SA auditions 2022 (season 18) will have to be submitted online – which makes it important for aspiring contestants to know crucial details such as registration and dates.
There will be no physical auditions in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town as in previous years, and applicants will need an internet connection to submit their entries.
How to submit entry for Idols SA auditions 2022 online
To make an entry for Idols SA auditions 2022 online, you will need to record a 30-second video of yourself singing (just singing – no talking or anything else!) and submit it on the Idols SA website here.
Be sure to have the 30-second clip and your personal details/information ready at the time you log in to submit.
Registration
The following is the required information to complete your registration:
- Full Name
- SA ID Number
- Contact phone number
- WhatsApp number
- Contact e-mail address
Once you submit your audition, you will receive an automated email confirming the submission. You will then receive another email indicating whether your audition was successful or not.
If your audition is successful, you will receive an invitation to audition in person in front of Idols South Africa judges, whose decision will be final.
Dates
Online audition dates for this year’s South African Idols are 23 January 2022 (opening) and 5 February 2022 (closing at 23h59). However, entries may be closed before 5 February if the platform receives 15,000 applications before then.
Judges will start evaluating the online auditions soon afterwards for a period of one month. Contestants are free to sing their own songs.
Rules for entering the competition
Mzansi’s premier talent competition has several rules and eligibility criteria that contestants must comply with.
These include:
- You must be between 16 and 30 years old on the day of your audition.
- You must resident in South Africa.
- You may not have an existing recording or management deal.
- The online audition process will be judged by members of the Idols Music team and the Idols judging panel.
- The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Your video must only be 30 seconds long and must be of you singing (no talking).
- Your audition may be used on TV even if you do not get an invitation to audition for the judges.
