How to register and check Matric results 2022, including release date

The 2022 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results will be out soon, and it is therefore important to know how to register and check Matric results 2022.

The anticipation is understandably rising among matriculants. We therefore show you how to register and check the results as soon as they are out.

How to register and check Matric results 2022

There are several ways you can register to receive your Matric results 2022: via SMS, USSD code, MatricsMate app and online.

SMS

Simply SMS your ID and exam number to 35658. Make sure your details are correct because the system will verify and won’t accept them if they are incorrect. Each SMS costs R1.50 and free SMSs do not apply. You will then receive your results via SMS once they are out.

USSD code

To register using USSD code, dial *120*35658# and then enter your ID and exam number. A charge of R1.50 per minute will apply. Results will be sent to your phone once they are out.

MatricsMate app

SABC Education partnered with the Department of Basic Education (DBE) to develop the MatricsMate app, which brings matriculants their results as they are available. You can register to get your Matric results after downloading the app. It is available on Google Play and Apple’s App Store.

How to check Matric results online

You can check Matric results online by registering on the Department of Basic Education’s exam results page and checking once the results are released. Enter your exam number to view your results.

“Candidates will have to go through a two-step verification process before receiving confirmation of their registration. A 13-digit ID number and the examination number will be required for registration. The DBE website is zero-rated, which means it can be accessed whether you have data or not,” the Department said in a statement.

Private school learners will need to visit the IEB results page here and enter their exam number as well as date of birth to access the “Candidate login” portal.

Check Matric results via SMS or USSD

You can also check your 2022 Matric results via SMS or USSD. Simply send an SMS to 35135, including your ID number and exam number, or alternatively use the USSD service by dialling *120*35658# and follow the prompts.

2022 Matric results release date

According to a Twitter update by the Department of Basic Education, the 2022 Matric results release date is 19 January 2023. The statement of results will then be available for collection at schools on 20 January 2023. Other dates to look out for are:

• 3 February 2023: Last day to apply for remarking/rechecking of examination scripts.
• 8 February 2023: Last day to register for the 2023 May/June examinations.
• 15 March 2023: Last day to register for the 2023 October/November examinations.
