The third step is to upload a video of yourself, which should not be longer than two minutes. And that’s it – click “Finish” to complete your application.
However, before clicking on the banner to start the process, it is important to know the competition’s terms and conditions, which are summarised below.
Eligibility
First off, you must be at least 21 years of age by January 1 2022 and in excellent physical and mental health. You must also be a valid South African citizen or permanent resident of South Africa as of 1 October 2021 and in possession of a valid identity document.
“You must be willing to live in the Big Brother Mzansi house located in Johannesburg with approximately a dozen or more strangers where you will have little or no privacy,” the producers said.
“If you are chosen to live in the house, it is your responsibility to make any necessary arrangements with your employer and family in anticipation of your extended absence.”
You need to be aware that the house is fitted with audio and video recording devices that will record and broadcast your actions 24/7 for as long as you’re in the house. This means that the general public will observe you at all times via TV, internet and mobile devices.
Other eligibility requirements include:
- If you are selected by the producers for the next phase of the auditions, you must avail yourself for a possible video interview.
- If you are selected for the next phase, you will be contacted via email. Make sure your email address is correct and check your email to see if you qualify.
- All selected applicants would receive their email no later than the 28th of November 2021. If you do not receive an email by the date, you have not been selected.
- If you are selected by the producer for an interview in the semi-finals, you must be willing and able to travel to Johannesburg at a time as scheduled by the producer in its sole discretion for the final selection process.
- If selected as a semi-finalist, you must complete the Participant Form Package, which includes, among others, psychological and medical assessments (including blood and urine tests) and a confidentiality agreement.
Video submission guidelines
According to the producers, your video must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Video must be maximum two minutes in length.
- The maximum two-minute video should end with you completing the sentence, “I would make a perfect housemate because…”
