Popular M-Net telenovela Legacy has earned a second season that will start in September, the DStv channel announced on Friday (23 July).
The telenovela has taken South Africa by storm, notching up six SA Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) nods, including one for Best Telenovela.
Season 2 of M-Net’s ‘Legacy’
Season 2 of Legacy promises to be even more “exceptional,” M-Net said, hinting that there will be a new family, a twist of enemies becoming allies and secrets from the past resurfacing.
“As we move towards season 2, we can promise viewers a rebirth of the series and a big expansion of the story universe which will allow us to tell more compelling and addictive drama,” Tshedza pictures executive producers, Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon, said.
There will also be a host of changes behind the scenes, with Krijay Govender assuming the series producer role. Zimkhitha Maseko and Christo Davids will join the directing team, while Thami Magqoki will become director of photography.
M-Net’s Legacy season 2 will premiere on Monday, 20 September at 19h00 on DStv Premium channel 101. Fans can also catch it on on the DStv App, DStv Catch up through the DStv App or DStv Explora, and Showmax.
‘Legacy’ M-Net cast
M-Net’s Legacy boasts an array of accomplished and hugely popular actors in its cast led by Michelle Botes, who plays the role of Angelique Price, Sebastian’s formidable ex-wife bedevilling the new wife and her son.
Kgomotso Christopher stars as Dineo Price, Sebastian’s current wife who leads her own division of the family business (Legacy Investments). Anton David Jeftha plays SJ Price, Sebastian and Dineo’s son.
Reandi Grey (Elizabeth Price), Mary-anne Barlow (Felicity Price) and Jay Anstey (Alexandra “Lexi” Price) play the roles of Sebastian’s daughters.
Other stars in the telenovela’s cast include the following:
- Don Mlangeni Naw as John, the longest-serving employee of the family business.
- Siyabonga Thwala as Msizi Zulu, an ambitious board member.
- Leeanda Reddy as Nirvana Perumal, the tough board chairperson.
- Trix Vivier as Petra Potgieter, a beautiful, idealistic and “woke” employee.
- Sean-Marco Vorster as Stefan Potgieter, an attractive but dangerous limo driver who is an ex-cop.
- Dawid Minnaar as Willem Potgieter, the patriarch of the Potgieter family.
