The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has revealed SASSA payment dates for June 2021 for grant recipients.
The Agency staggers payment dates throughout every month to reduce overcrowding at SASSA, SA Post Office or ATM/banks branches across the country.
SASSA payment dates for June 2021
According to SASSA‘s announcement, grant payment dates for June 2021 are as follows:
- Older persons’ grants will be paid from 3 June 2021. This includes any grants linked to these accounts.
- Disability grants will be paid from 4 June 2021. This includes any grants linked to these accounts.
- All other grants will be paid from 7 June 2021. These includes children’s grants, foster care grants and care dependency grants.
The Agency advised grant recipients not to rush to withdraw their funds on the first day the grants become available.
This is because funds will remain in a recipient’s account until he/she eventually withdraws them. The advice is primarily aimed at preventing long queues and overcrowding, especially in the context of rising COVID-19 cases.
According to Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu, her Department has allocated R195.5 billion towards the monthly payment of 18 million grants to beneficiaries in the 2021/2022 financial year.
R350 SRD grant has ended
The R350 social relief of distress (SRD) grant ended on 30 April 2021. Appeals for declined application were however allowed until 31 May 2021.
“If you have successfully lodged an appeal for the special COVID-19 SRD grant, your application will be reconsidered and you will be notified of the outcome thereof,” SASSA said last week.
“Successful appeals will be paid for applicable months. An SMS notification will be sent to you in due course directing you what to do next.”
SASSA has previously reminded applicants that although the R350 SRD grant has ended, all approved but unpaid applications will be paid.
“All such applicants of the special COVID-19 SRD grant, who have been approved but not yet paid, can rest assured that they will be paid as soon as possible,” the Agency said.
It urged beneficiaries to send any queries by calling 0800 60 10 11 from 08h00 to 16h00, Monday to Friday or visiting the SASSA website on www.sassa.gov.za.
