South African low-budget airline FlySafair has partnered with local travel technology company Tripco to launch FlySafair Holidays, a portal where travellers can find holiday packages and deals.

Tripco is the company behind popular travel and accommodation website LekkeSlaap.

‘Travel package solution’

In a statement on Thursday, the two companies described FlySafair Holidays as an “all-in-one travel package solution.”

“Our goal has always been to open the skies to more South Africans by offering flights at great value for money,” FlySafair chief marketing officer Kirby Gordon said.

“We hope to take this one step further and provide travellers with access to more budget-friendly package options with FlySafair Holidays.”

Jonathan Womersley, Tripco’s executive director, added, “We saw partnering with FlySafair as the perfect opportunity to create new travel technologies and reach new markets.

“The lockdown created a unique opportunity for local brands to target customers who would normally travel internationally but have been unable to do so for a long time.”

How FlySafair Holidays works

The two companies have established a website – – where travellers can book holiday packages complete with flights and accommodation.

Visitors to the website can fill in their departure and arrival details (destinations and dates), including the number of adults, children and infants. You can then click the “Let’s Go” link to see the packages.

Alternatively, you can choose from “Trending Regions,” including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Gqeberha, and fill in your details as appropriate.

The website will then generate search results for your destination. You can filter them according to your budget as well as accommodation type and review scores.

Accommodation options include a wide range of BnBs, guest houses, hotels and lodges throughout the country, FlySafair said.
