TV and radio personality Kriya Gangiah is well known for her love of man’s furry four-legged friends. She not only has two beautiful dogs at home, but also raises funds to help shelters keep stray and abandoned dogs fed and safe as they continue their search for their forever home.

She does this through her popular annual fundraiser dubbed “Bark In the Park” (www.barkinthepark.co.za). COVID-19 unfortunately meant she had to shelve the charity’s event last year.

This year, however, the media personality is thrilled to reveal that she will host the fundraiser on Sunday, 28 March 2021 at the Pretoria Rugby Club between 09h00 and 14h00.

Kriya encourages dog lovers in and around Gauteng to bring their furry friends for a fun day out. With an entrance fee of just R50, the day promises to be exciting for both humans and canines while raising much-needed funds for Pretoria Dog Rescue.

Bark In The Park 2021 will be a 100 percent COVID-19 compliant event and the health and safety of guests remains a number one priority.

Founded by Kriya Gangiah in 2015, Bark in the Park is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for animal welfare organisations in Pretoria. The event is an annual canine mass-cultural event, drawing hundreds of dogs, faithful humans and exhibitors, from across Gauteng.

A family fun event, Bark in the Park is a ground-breaking celebration of dogs, an occasion for humans and companion animals to enjoy a day out in the sun. The event plays host to exhibitors offering every form of canine consumer luxury.

There isn’t a toy, fashion line, treat or exclusive service for dogs that can’t be found at Bark in the Park. Visitors will also be treated to a variety of food stalls and other exciting vendors.

How charity came about

Explaining what inspired the charity’s idea, Kriya says, “The idea started from wanting to do something meaningful for my birthday.

“Being a Pretoria girl, I wanted to give back to the local community and I wanted to support the one thing that brings so much joy to my life – animals. The 2021 edition of Bark In The Park will be our third official event and I cannot wait to host you and your furry friends this year.”
