Commenting on what inspired the single, Choccy says, “I wrote this song based on the insecurities that we are challenged with when we are attracted to someone or find someone interesting.
“Too often we find ourselves judging people by the way they look and how they carry themselves.”
The muso wrote and produced the Fire remix. “To take it a step further I ended up mastering the original version of Fire along with co-directing the music video with Sam World from No Method.”
Choccy Chox profile
The hitmaker grew up in a musical family. “My Dad played keyboards in a band named “Airborne” which was a very popular smooth jazz band,” he explains.
After completing his studies, Choccy joined the GoodLuck band as the third member playing the saxophone, keyboards and vocals.
He adds, “Off the back of eleven number 1 radio hits in South Africa, we toured around Europe, Asia, Africa and the UK, across many global stages.
“After five years of travelling the world [and] headlining countless shows and festivals, I decided to part ways and focus all my attention on my solo career as a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.”
Choccy had already dropped several chart-topping singles before joining Goodluck, including Take It Slow and Skylight.
He was part of the band when it released its first global breakout hit single called Back In The Day and Thinking About You.
Future plans
Asked if he had planned for a musical career, Choccy says, “I always knew music would be a part of me in some way.
“However, if you had asked me this question while I was at school… travelling to 14 different countries in one year, headlining shows all around the world playing music, that would’ve only been a dream, which I am living right now.”
Choccy is excited about what the future holds and already has three finished singles ready for release.
“I’m also looking at doing a few local and international collaborations, so definitely everyone one can expect a lot more music coming out,” he adds.
