Popular online streaming service Netflix has introduced two new subscription plans in South Africa – including one just that costs just R39 per month.

The streaming plans are dubbed Mobile and Mobile+ and bring the total number of Netflix packages to five. The first three plans are Basic (R99), Standard (R139) and Premium (R169).

Speaking to MyBroadband, a Netflix representative said the new plans are being tested and prospective subscribers will see either one or the other when they visit the signup page.

“We’ve had the same three plans for several years now and this test offer reflects significant usage of and preference for mobile in South Africa. We’ll only roll this out longer-term if people value the increased flexibility,” Netflix explained.
