Fans of entertainment power couple Zakes Bantwini and Nandi Mngoma have been spooked by a Sunday World report that they have applied in court to change their marriage contract.
This has led some to speculate that the two have called it quits. Fortunately, it appears that this speculation is unfounded and a Zakes and Nandi divorce is not happening at all.
Zakes and Nandi marriage
In his court affidavit, Zakes said they had recently discovered while discussing their financial affairs that they were married in community of property.
This was because of a “misunderstanding with the marriage officer” when they got married in 2016. “At all material times, it was the intention of the second applicant [Nandi] and myself to be married out of community of property without application of the accrual system,” Zakes wrote.
Zakes and Nandi therefore wish to enter into a post-nuptial notarial contract because they both have independent sources of income, the artist said.
Zakes, whose full name is Zakhele Madida, is a successful singer and songwriter with several top albums to his name. According to court papers, their R3.4 million and R1.4 million homes in KwaZulu-Natal and Johannesburg respectively are registered in his name.
Nandi, whose maiden name is Mngoma, is also a successful singer, actress, TV hostess and fashion label owner. She is also the face of LEGiT fashion and Lux soap brands.
New single
A peek at their Twitter profiles over the past week revealed that a Zakes and Nandi split is simply not true. Nandi is in fact dropping a new single, Organic, on 19 September, 2020 that’s written by her, Zakes and Shaka Madida.
Over the weekend, love was in the air as Zakes retweeted Nandi’s snap with a love emoji. In turn, Nandi quoted his tweet and wrote, “We created magic during this pandemic! It’s almost time! Love you, Thank you. Let’s change the game.”
So, no trouble in paradise at all there and we hope the power couple sticks together!
