Fans of popular reality series Life With Kelly Khumalo can now binge on the final seven episodes of the season on Showmax.
The series’ director, Olwethu Mlotshwa, is upbeat that Kelly Khumalo’s “vocal highness” brings “more authenticity – and more smiles this time round. It’s not necessarily a happy ending but you’ll see a woman who is content with where she is in her life.”
He added, “When the season began, Kelly’s reality was introduced to the world. Her life and her struggles were laid bare to people who knew her story only from the media.
“The second half of the season is where Kelly now tackles her struggles head on and seeks answers. Filled with turmoil, Kelly seeks the truth as well as freedom. How will she find it? The answers are in these new episodes. Viewers also get a glimpse into how Kelly works, with some behind-the-scenes moments with her vocal highness.”
New Life With Kelly Khumalo episodes: Talking points
Fans eager for the new Life With Kelly Khumalo episodes can anticipate the following talking points:
Christian is introduced to the Maarohanye family
Kelly has struggled to get Christian to know his dad Molemo (Jub Jub) Maarohanye better. However, a twist in the story could see the young lad finally being introduced to the Maarohanye family. “We need to see his paternal grandfather regarding a ritual they have to perform as his paternal family,” says Kelly.
Mother-daughter relationship in the spotlight
Kelly’s mom, Ntombi Khumalo, suddenly left for KwaZulu-Natal in the first half of the season without informing her. The two try to sort out their strained relationship in the second half, but the process hits a snag when Kelly makes a disheartening discovery.
Kelly believes her mom is not communicating whatever is on her mind and is unwilling to fix their family issues. She says, “I believe that what’s meant to be will be. And I believe that I’ve done everything in my power to try and put the pieces of the puzzle together and if they aren’t getting together, there’s nothing I can do beyond this.”
Friends turn into family
Although things may be a little difficult for Kelly, she finds solace in her friendship with Wanda Baloyi and Brenda Mtambo. “When I look at Brenda and Wanda, my world is complete. When I talk about a family that isn’t blood-related, you guys are the definition of that,” she says.
The singing trio connects at a spiritual level, which makes their bond particularly authentic. Brenda and Wanda also play open cards about their vulnerabilities and are grateful for how Kelly has always been there for them.
Kelly goes to therapy
Kelly attends therapy sessions that help her through a self-healing process in the last few episodes. Her vulnerabilities are laid bare, including her grief, despair and a new revelation about the late Senzo Meyiwa. “Society has taken my loss and used it against me. How is that fair?” Kelly wonders.
A mother first
Kelly has a lot going on in her life, but her top priorities remain her children Thingo and Christian. The star singer decides to hold a baptism ceremony for them.
Kelly also continues to seek more peace in her life and looks into the future. “Where to from here? I don’t know. I can only trust God for what he has in store for me,” she says.
