Julius Malema has poked fun at sections of the media with adorable snaps of himself and his wife Mantwa Matlala Malema.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader shared the snaps on Twitter on Saturday evening.
He accompanied them with the caption, “The Parents of the boys; playing with other kids. You can inform #Stratcom to come and download. Congratulations #PotlakiWedsTumi.”
The elegantly dressed couple was apparently attending a friend’s wedding-related event.
The photos have gone viral, racking up well over 11,000 likes so far.
‘Stratcom’ vs Malema
Malema has repeatedly dismissed some media houses and journalists as “Stratcom.”
It’s a reference to the infamous apartheid’s “strategic communications” propaganda machinery that targeted certain anti-apartheid leaders such as the late Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
According to Malema and EFF, the modern-day “Stratcom” is engaged in dissemination of anti-EFF propaganda.
The EFF leader went as far as “banning” investigative journalism units amaBhungane and Daily Maverick‘s Scorpio from the party’s events.
Recent allegations
This follows Scorpio‘s recent report that claimed Malema used a bank card linked to his cousin’s company, Mahuna Investments, to fund his lifestyle.
Mahuna Investments is alleged to have irregularly received millions from the collapsed VBS Mutual Bank.
Malema denied the claims, suggesting that his “brothers” travel with him all the time and may have been the ones who made the card transactions.
Another report by amaBhungane recently claimed Afrirent paid for a tractor that Malema gifted a community in Seshego, Limpopo, last year.
The report alleged that Afrirent may have benefitted from EFF’s influence to win a fleet contract at the City of Johannesburg.
It further suggested that the tractor, as well as an earlier alleged R500,000 payment to Mahuna Investments, constituted “kickbacks” to EFF.
Both EFF and Afrirent have denied the allegations.
