Mzansi’s own Nomzamo Mbatha has joined Hollywood big shots in the cast of Coming 2 America, the sequel of the 1988 comedy classic.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Mbatha will star alongside such big names as Eddie Murphy, Tracy Morgan, Wesley Snipes, and Garcelle Beauvais.
In the 1988 film, Murphy played the role of Prince Akeem, an African prince who travels to America and gets an ordinary job in a bid to find true love.
The sequel sees Akeem about to assume the position of king and discovering that he has a son he never knew about in Queens, New York.
He therefore returns to America to find him and fulfil his dying father’s wish to groom a successor.
Details of Mbatha’s role have not been revealed yet. Shooting of the movie is set to begin next week.
Paramount Pictures has scheduled December 2020 as the release date.
‘Once in a lifetime’
In a statement, the Isibaya actress praised God for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
This moment is bigger than me — this moment is for every single girl who doubts herself or just how big her God is.
My life is a testament to that. My life says God is bigger than ginormous! I am grateful, I am humbled, I am honoured to be cast in Coming 2 America.
