Yengeni’s call comes in the wake of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s request to the Pretoria High Court to keep CR17 campaign funding records secret from the public.
In a letter to the high court on Thursday, Ramaphosa’s lawyer Peter Harris cast doubt on whether Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane obtained some of the evidence lawfully or not.
Mkhwebane later released a statement insisting that she conducted her investigation by the book.
She categorically denied engaging in any unlawful activity during her investigation into the CR17 campaign funding.
Yengeni has repeatedly expressed his staunch support for Mkhwebane on his Twitter profile.
On Thursday, he tweeted a picture of Mkhwebane and condemned those who are against the “People’s Protector.”
He also insisted that the fight against corruption and money laundering, among other crimes, must be intensified.
Among other findings, Mkhwebane found that there was suspicion of money laundering in the CR17 campaign.
