Former tourism minister Derek Hanekom is yet to comment on a claim that he had a list of African National Congress (ANC) MPs who planned to vote against former President Zuma in Parliament in August 2017.
Zuma survived the vote of no confidence conducted via secret ballot. About 30 ANC MPs voted against Zuma, according to News24.
Speaking at a rally outside Pretoria High Court on Tuesday, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema said Hanekom shared the list of anti-Zuma MPs with them.
EFF Deputy President repeated this claim in a tweet soon afterwards.
Now some senior leaders of the ANC have demanded answers from Hanekom on Twitter.
ANC’s Mayor of Ekurhuleni Mzwandile Masina tweeted to Hanekom asking for his comment.
@Derek_Hanekom are you there, waiting for your tweet please before we sleep tonight.
Mzwandile Masina
Hanekom hasn’t replied so far. However, he retweeted a reply criticising Masina for airing ANC’s differences on social media.
I was not expecting this from you leadership @mzwandileMasina. What are you teaching us as followers. You are busy tearing our glorious movement apart.
Remember what you are doing together with @mrlungisa you are strengthening opposition. Pls lead by example.
Twitter user Joel Mukondi
ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) member Tony Yengeni also demanded to see the alleged list.
