President Cyril Ramaphosa has sounded a stern warning against corrupt public officials, saying that his presidency will not be afraid to act against them.
Ramaphosa made the comments while introducing the Presidency’s Budget Vote in Parliament on Wednesday afternoon.
To those who use the public service and our SOEs [state-owned enterprises] to line their pockets, we say goodbye to you. Our law enforcement authorities will accompany you to the dock.

The president reiterated the key priorities for the Sixth Administration that he outlined in his recent State of the Nation Address (SONA), key among them economic transformation.
He also announced that implementation of government programmes will be focused on the district level.
By focusing on implementation at a district level, we will also have a clearer line of sight to what we need to do to remedy failures at a local government level.

Ramaphosa also announced that special Khawuleza Provincial Coordination Mechanisms to oversee and monitor implementation.
He and Deputy President David Mabuza will participate in participate in a “programme of imbizo” to oversee these mechanisms.
