Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leaders Julius Malema and Floyd Shivambu have vowed to sue former EFF MP Thembinkosi Rawula for defamation.
Speaking at a press conference held in Johannesburg on Wednesday, Malema said they would seek R1m compensation from Rawula.
Rawula sensationally claimed last week that Malema had admitted to the EFF receiving VBS money.
Malema reportedly made the admission during a recent Central Command Team (CCT) meeting of the party. Rawula was also a CCT member until his resignation on Wednesday.
The self-styled Commander-in-Chief denied ever making such an admission.
I have never said the things they say I said about VBS. I made a political overview and spoke extensively about the VBS and its implications. One of the statements I remember saying was that VBS was supposed to be the end of the EFF, the way it was designed.
I am suing [Rawula] for R1m for saying I stole EFF money, and that is not an EFF issue, it is between me and him. I am taking him to the cleaners. He needs to prove.

Meanwhile, Rawula has kept up his criticism of Malema on his Facebook page. In his resignation letter, he accused Malema of turning EFF leaders into his “zombies” and cheerleaders.
You have turned serious people of substance in the EFF Central Command Team into Zombies who have become cheer leaders of your insults.
